Trager® Approach sessions can be any length of time - 90 minutes, 60 minutes, 30 minutes or less. I am a Trager practitioner who mostly volunteers my services to groups and organizations whose members would not normally be able to receive body and energy work due to the cost and availability of such sessions. Through the Reiki Center in Columbus, Ohio, there is a collection of body work practitioners called the Stone Soup Project. We are composed of practitioners who do Reiki, Massage, Cranial Sacral and Trager. We practitioners travel to work with groups like the Veterans Center, the YWCA, hospice workers, and rehabilitation centers.

In this case, a long-time client, who had recently been reporting a frequent, urgent sensation to urinate with no actual result or satisfaction, experimented with a device called a vibrating seat cushion, resulting in an alarming and constant buzzing in her head that was present even when she was not sitting on the cushion. Her symptoms abated after a single somatic touch therapy session.
Traumatic Sexual Abuse Survivor
The patient was a 49-year old woman suffering with long-term, constant burning skin and intermittent insomnia. In addition, she had accompanying anxiety and depression which was originally the result of long term, traumatic childhood sexual abuse by multiple offenders, and subsequently complicated by withdrawal from benzodiazapene (anti-anxiety) medication. She was also in a committed psychotherapeutic relationship with a therapist that she was attached to and who cared for her.
Attuned Touch and Whole-Body Effects
"Love the Foot" is a structured practice of attuned touch aimed at enhancing sensory awareness and whole-body integration. This case report synthesizes insights from 76 therapists who engaged with this method, reporting on its diverse effects. While the intervention consistently elicited localized changes in foot sensation and relaxation, its whole-body effects were the most profound and unexpected outcome. Participants noted systemic shifts in the spine, shoulders, and nervous system regulation.
