We first met Shea in June 2017 when he was 15 years old. A gifted athlete with tremendous drive, he was restricted by the limitations of Cerebral Palsy (CP) on his affected left side. Shea was a motivated athlete who he would push his body to extremes that often caused him injury. The impact of over-driving his non-impacted, right side to compensate for his weaker and functionally-impaired left CP side was obvious when comparing the muscle strength and tone, particularly of his lower extremities.
Levi - Cerebral Palsy ( CP ) athlete with affected movement, balance, and strength limitations on his right CP-affected side
Levi’s has a burning desire to play soccer at the highest level possible despite his cerebral palsy movement limitations. Levi was born with CP detected at an early age. His parents noticed that he was favoring his left side as he was developing his motor skills. He is fortunate to have parents who are proactive with access to the best medical treatment available. They are open minded to explore supplemental care. At 10 years old Levi was one of the youngest CP children we’d worked thus far. He was referred to us by Ashley, Shea’s father, shortly after we completed our first group of sessions with Shea. Ashley is co-founder and head coach of CPSoccer.
Traumatic Sexual Abuse Survivor, Recovered Drug Addict, Long-term, Painful BZD Withdrawal Symptoms
The patient was a 49-year old woman suffering with long-term, constant burning skin and intermittent insomnia. In addition, she had accompanying anxiety and depression which was originally the result of long-term, traumatic childhood sexual abuse by multiple offenders, and subsequently complicated by withdrawal from benzodiazapene (anti-anxiety) medication. She was also in a committed psychotherapeutic relationship with a therapist that she was attached to and who cared for her.
Trager Approach for Chronic Headache Relief
By Jack Liskin
This document reports on a pilot randomized controlled trial evaluating the efficacy of the Trager approach in treating chronic headaches, comparing it to attention and no-treatment controls. The study investigates whether the Trager approach, combining manual therapy and relaxation training, can reduce headache frequency, duration, intensity, medication use, and improve quality of life in individuals with chronic headache.
Trager Approach Mini-Sessions
Trager® Approach sessions can be any length of time - 90 minutes, 60 minutes, 30 minutes or less. I am a Trager practitioner who mostly volunteers my services to groups and organizations whose members would not normally be able to receive body and energy work due to the cost and availability of such sessions. Through the Reiki Center in Columbus, Ohio, there is a collection of body work practitioners called the Stone Soup Project. We are composed of practitioners who do Reiki, Massage, Cranial Sacral and Trager. We practitioners travel to work with groups like the Veterans Center, the YWCA, hospice workers, and rehabilitation centers.
Somatic Touch Therapy is an effective intervention for Physical Manifestation of Overstimulation by Vibrating Device
Clients with physical and emotional concerns come to me for Somatic Touch Therapy, which is the general name I use to refer to the hands-on work that I offer in my clinical practice. These clients can sometimes present concerns that are unusual in nature. Because they may be connected to a complexity of underlying conditions, and even to personality and behavioral traits, it can be helpful to take a step back to examine the potential contributing factors with a “wholistic” approach, as is common in eastern schools of healing and wellness.
